On Friday, December 15, 2017, nine days preparation for celebration of Christ’s birth shall begin. In those nine days, Rosary will take place on Apparition Hill at 2 pm, and on Friday, December 15 and 22, we will not pray the Way of the Cross on Cross Mountain. The evening prayer programme in the parish church shall take place according to the ordinary schedule.

Parish of Medjugorje organises the Advent Night on December 17. The whole parish will organise on the third Advent Sunday, on the grounds of the old parish church, the night of gathering of the parishioners and of all people of good will.

On Sunday, December 3, the Advent begins with the First Sunday in the Advent. May this time of the Advent help us to reflect in the better way on our lives and to make decisions how to improve it even more. We will celebrate early Holy Masses in this time in the church of St. James at 6 am, every day except for Sundays. As it was the case in the previous years, in this time we will not have Holy Mass at 7.30 am, only early Holy Mass, when we will pray for your intentions and deceased ones.

The 17th Anniversary of Fr. Slavko’s death was commemorated last night in the parish church of St. James, with the Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Walter Mixa, OFM, German Bishop Emeritus, while Fr. On Friday, November 17, we will commemorate the 17th Anniversary of Fr. Slavko Barbaric’s death, a priest who devoted 18 years of his life to spreading of Our Lady’s messages in the world and care for all pilgrims. Fr. Slavko died on November 24, 2000, after having completed the Way of the Cross on Cross Mountain and he was buried at the local cemetery Kovacica.

On Saturday, November 18, the spiritual retreat in Medjugorje was organised for the youth and students from Bistrik, Sarajevo. The members of YouFra from Brestovsko, on the occasion of preparation for their solemn vows in YouFra, joined this group at their spiritual retreat. (photos)

Dear listeners, you are listening to the radio station Mir Medjugorje” – these were the first words broadcasted live in the air on November 25, 1997, in the basement of the small house where facilities of this radio station had just been opened and blessed. The frequency at that time was 106,3 FM and it covered 800 meters distance in Medjugorje, only for five hours of radio programme per day.

„The Evening with Josko Marusic“, the university professor, cartoonist and the author of many animated movies shall take place on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 7:30 pm, in the Hall of John Paul II in Medjugorje. The evening shall be accompanied by the singing of the vocal female group „Mir“ from Medjugorje.

On Friday, November 10, the Voluntary Blood Donation Day shall be held in Medjugorje in the Hall of John Paul II, from 9 to 11 am, and all blood units shall be given to the University Clinical Hospital in Mostar.
The organisers are Parish Office Medjugoje, Red Cross of Citluk municipality and local communities of Medjugorje and Bijakovici.

On November 8, we will commemorate the fifth death anniversary of Fr. Petar Vlasic, former parish priest of Medjugorje. Fr. Petar was born on July 19, 1938, in Sovici, parish of Gorica and was ordained as a priest on November 11, 1966. He performed various duties while being religious and a priest. He was a guardian of the Monastery in Mostar, as well as the member of the Herzegovina Franciscan Province’s Seat, and he served as an assistant parish priest and a parish priest in ten parishes of our Province. He served in Medjugorje since 1999, and was appointed as a parish priest in 2007, and remained at this function until his death. He radiated with goodness, simplicity and human gentleness, even in the difficult days of his severe illness. He was buried at Kovacica graveyard on November 9, 2012, just behind the parish church of St. James.
