FRANCISCAN NOVICES IN MEDJUGORJE

On Saturday, December 4, the Franciscan novices from Livno came to Medjugorje.These 14 young Franciscans are members of two Franciscans provinces in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

THE FOURTH DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF FR. SLAVKO BARBARIC

The fourth anniversary of Fr. Slavko’s death was commemorated in Medjugorje on November 24. He died on November 24, 2000, at 3.30 pm, after the weekly prayer of the Way of the Cross.

PILGRIMAGE OF THE PRAYER COMMUNITY “PRAYER AND WORD”

About 50 members of the prayer group “Prayer and Word” – MiR – from Rijeka (Croatia) came on pilgrimage to Medjugorje from October 1 to 3. Fr. Tomislav Hrstic accompanied the pilgrimage.

THE FRANCISCAN GENERAL MINISTER DESIRES TO VISIT MEDJUGORJE

In a recent interview for Radio “Mir” Medjugorje, the General Minister of the Franciscan OFM Order, Fr. José Rodríguez Carballo, expressed his desire to come and visit Medjugorje. He said that he would like to come to the International Youth Festival, about which he heard all the best. The Minister General, as he said, wants to be close to his Franciscan brothers in all the parts of the world, and also in Medjugorje, where they are doing wonderful things for the glory of God.

THE FIFTH INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR FOR MARRIED COUPLES

The 5th International Seminar for Married Couples took place in Medjugorje from November 3 to 6, 2004. The theme of the seminar was, “How to heal the marriage and the family?”

CHOIRS IN THE CHURCH IN MEDJUGORJE

In October 2004, several different choirs sung in the parish church in Medjugorje during the evening Mass: the mixed choir “Bascina” from Zagreb/Croatia, the parish choir from Runovici near Imotski/Croatia, the parish choir from Frohnleiten/Austria, and the Cathedral choir from Mostar/Bosnia and Herzegovina.

THE MALTESE ASSOCIATION FINISHED THIS YEAR’S SERVICE AT THE SHRINE

Members of the First Aid Team of the Maltese Order from Germany and their volunteers finished this year’s service at the Shrine of the Queen of Peace with the Holy Mass for German speaking pilgrims.

A group of students of «St. Mary's Secondary School» from Ballina, Co. Mayo (Ireland), led by their religion teacher Joanne Cullen, has come for the second time on pilgrimage to Medjugorje.

Members of the association “Sanus”, which is bringing together the families of children that are suffering from malign illnesses, is organizing pilgrimages to the Queen of Peace in Medjugorje for seven years now.

The Cathedral Choir “Pro Musica Sacra” from Mostar, under the guidance of Fr. Dragan Filipovic, sung in the parish church in Medjugorje.

ARCHBISHOP MORETTI IN MEDJUGORJE


Mons. Giovanni Moretti from Meina (Italy), a retired archbishop and apostolic nuncio, came on a private pilgrimage to Medjugorje in the beginning of October.

Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow and Ruth Black from Scotland

Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow and his sister Ruth from Scotland came to Medjugorje for the first time as adolescents in 1983. In next to no time, they also brought their parents to the Shrine of the Queen of Peace. In 1988, the whole family MacFarlane-Barrow, with the permission of the Bishop, decided to give over to God the family hotel «Craig Lodge House», to be a place of prayer and a retreat centre.

Pilgrimage – seminar about Mary and the Holy Spirit for pilgrims from Ireland and the USA


From October 11 to 16, 250 pilgrims from Ireland and the USA gathered together in Medjugorje for a thematic pilgrimage – seminar about Mary and the Holy Spirit. It was organized by Philip Ryan from Ireland and led by Donald and Patricia Turbitt from North Providence, Rhode Island, USA. After the evening prayer program, conferences concluded the daily program of pilgrimage.

For many years now, Philip Ryan has been accompanying the Medjugorje pilgrims from Ireland. As for Donald and Patricia Turbitt, leaders in the Charismatic Renewal for 30 years, they are married for 41 years now. They have three children and thirteen grandchildren. They have led numerous parish missions and conferences, as well as retreats for men and women, throughout New England, Eastern Europe, and Africa.

The 15th Annual Meeting of the Hispanic Movement of Centers and Prayer Groups of Mary Queen of Peace

From October 4 to 6, 2004, the members of the Hispanic Movement of Centers and Prayer Groups of Mary Queen of Peace, had their annual meeting in Medjugorje. 120 people came from Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Spain, Puerto Rico, and United States. They were blessed with the company of 9 priests that came with them.  It was a profound activity with a great spiritual unity among all who were present.
