HUNDREDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE SPEND THE NIGHT IN VIGIL PRAYER THE NIGHT BEFORE HOLY FATHER''S VISIT TO SARAJEVO

Around thousand and a half young people, including couple of hundreds from Croatia, in the communion with the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljic, gathered on Friday, June 5, in the evening hours in the church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sarajevo settlement Stup.

Vivaldi''s „Gloria” and Mozart''s „Coronation Mass”

On the Feast of Corpus Christi, on Thursday, June 4, during the evening Holy Mass at 7 p.m. at the White Dome of St. James' church, there was live performance of  „Gloria” by A. Vivaldi as well as  „Coronation Mass”  by W.A. Mozarta. The performers were: Academic Choir of the University of Mostar, Choir of the University of Mostar, Academic choir Pro musica, leader of the choir: Katja-Krolo Šarac and Dragan Filipović, corepetitor: Marijana Pavlović, Symphonic Orchestra Mostar, soloists: Ilijana Korać, Monija Jarak, Stefano Surian, Mario Krnić. Igor Tatarević was the conductor of the whole performance.

The largest church choir in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina

During the solemn Holy Mass that will be celebrated by Holy Father Francis,on June 6, 2015 at the Olympic stadium in Sarajevo, the largest church choir will  be singing. It will be made of 53 different choirs that registered for this event and practiced the programme, including the choir of the Queen of Peace from Medjugorje, conducted by Sr. Irena Azinovic.

Huge number of pilgrims in Medjugorje

 

There are many pilgrims in Medjugorje at the moment and majority of them come from Italy. There are also groups from Germany, Austria, Ireland, the United States, Canada, France, Spain, China, Korea, Slovakia, Ukraine, Poland, Switzerland, Panama and Malaysia. Apart from participating in the evening prayer programme and visiting holy places in Medjugorje, many of them are patiently waiting for the sacrament of confession.  (photos)

The first concert of the vocal group „Laetitia“ held in Medjugorje

The vocal group „Laetitia“ (made of YouFra Medjugorje members) held their first solo concert on Sunday, May 31 in the Hall of St. John Paul II in Medjugorje. This vocal group was established more than a year ago, at the initiative of their leader Monija Jarak and the parish priest Fr. Marinko Šakota.

The summer timetable of the prayer programme in Medjugorje

The summer timetable of the evening prayer programme begins on June 1 in Medjugorje. Rosary will be at 6 p.m., Holy Mass at 7 p.m. and after Holy Mass there will be regular prayer schedule, depending on the each day. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Saturdays and Tuesdays will be at 10 p.m., and on Thursdays at 8 p.m. after the evening Holy Mass.

The fourth pilgrimage for persons with disability

The coordinator: Fr. Marinko Sakota, parish priest of Medjugorje parish

The fourth pilgrimage for persons with disability will be held in Medjugorje from June 11-14,2015. The main organiser of this pilgrimage is the Association "Susret" (Encounter), from Citluk in cooperation with the parish office Medjugorje and Mother's Village.

Radio Medjugorje made jingles for the visit of Pope Francis to Bosnia and Herzegovina

Radio station Mir Medjugorje made short audio announcements of the visit of pope Francis to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are to be broadcasted in radio programmes. These musical announcements, with statements of pope Francis also contain the invitation to the faithful for joyful participation in the Holy Mass with pope Francis on stadium Kosevo in Sarajevo, on June 6. Some of the prayer themes of this visit are also in the jingles that are being broadcasted at the moment and are for free use in the radio programmes.

The experiences of pilgrims in Medjugorje

At the end of May many pilgrims came to Medjugorje from Germany, Austria, the United States, Italy, France, Ireland, England, Mexico, Poland, Slovenia, Belgium, Korea, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Indonesia. We had chance to talk to Fr. Niki a Devcic, a member of the Franciscan Province of St. Jerome with the seat in Zadar.

Pilgrim from Barbados in Medjugorje

Therese Gloumeau from far Barbados came to Medjugorje in the middle of May to participate at the retreat held for doctors and medical workers. She is a cardiologist and has been doing that for 44 years now. This is what Therese told us about her trip to Medjugorje: „Our journey is very long as we need to fly for 36 hours.

The first Holy Communion in Medjugorje parish

On Sunday, May 17, 57 children from Medjugorje parish received for the first time the sacrament of Holy Communion. Fr. Dragan Ruzic celebrated the solemn Holy Mass at 10 a.m., and celebration was more solemn and beautiful thanks to the singing of children's choir "Doves of Peace", conducted by Sr. Irena Azinovic. Two days prior to this solemn sacrament, children had the sacrament of the Holy Confession for the first time, in the company of their parents who confessed together with them.

Spiritual renewal: "Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called“

The spiritual renewal of the Franciscan Youth from Mostar was held from May 8-10, 2015, in  Međugorje. The goal of this spiritual renewal was the preparation for the upcoming ceremony of promises and vows in their Fraternity.

The Third Seminar for Doctors and Medical Workers held in Medjugorje

The Third International Seminar for doctors and medical workers was held in Medjugorje from May 13-16,2015. This seminar gathered more than 200 participants from 16 countries, and the lecturer was Fr. Ljubo Kurtovic, parish priest from Veljaci in Herzegovina. The theme of this seminar was „Peace be with you“.

Holy Confirmation in Medjugorje

The sacrament of the Holy Confirmation was given to 81 young people from Medjugorje parish on Saturday, May 16. Mons. Ratko Peric, bishop of Mostar-Duvno Diocese, ministered this sacrament in the church of St. James during the solemn celebration that took place at 10 a.m. The main choir of Medjugorje parish, conducted by Sr. Irena Azinovic, made this celebration even more solemn.
