One lives faith in Medjugorje

This February, as always, is a period when Medjugorje is not so packed with pilgrims. According to Information office, there have been groups from United States, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Italy, Korea and Poland. We met Radoslav Daduliak from Slovakia who is currently working in Prague. Together with his wife Maria, this is their first trip to Medjugorje. He told us about his life and he is full of impressions about Medjugorje. “This is the first place I visited where you can feel how people live together with God. You can hear prayer; one indeed lives faith in Medjugorje. For me, Medjugorje is the most beautiful place in the whole world”, said Radoslav.

Testimony of Christiane Claessens, who followed group from Lausanne, Switzerland on their pilgrimage to Medjugorje

“Blessed are those who have not seen, and yet have believed” (Jn 20, 29)

Christianne Claessens – the first witness of healing of woman from Switzerland Joelle Beuret – Devanthery in Medjugorje, in October 2010, as she describes the pilgrimage and all of the events.

On Saturday, October 16, 2010, forty six people, mostly from the parish of St. Frances de Sales and St. Therese, began their private pilgrimage to Medjugorje. It was our twentieth private pilgrimage that was taking place at the time when we remembered twentieth anniversary of forming the prayer group of Queen of Peace. For our group, that was a wonderful opportunity to thank the Lord, since Mary took each one of us by our hand, and guided us despite all of the difficulties that we had throughout these last twenty years.  Indeed, Satan cannot stand Virgin Mary and he therefore hates all of the prayer groups that she desires to be founded in every single parish. Through God’s grace, we remained faithful and we used to gather every Monday for prayer, meditation of Christ’s life, all accompanied with the messages that Mary gave and is still giving every month in Medjugorje.

New Year''s prayer encounter in Medjugorje

Along with many parishioners and people from this region, numerous pilgrims have arrived from all over the world to be here, in Medjugorje for New Year’s prayer vigil. According to the registration data in Information Office, there were pilgrims from around 15 European countries, as well as groups from Korea, Lebanon, United States, Ghana, Honduras, Benin and other countries. After Holy Mass of Thanksgiving, community Cenacolo had another live Nativity scene performance in front of the church of St. James. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament started at 10 p.m. and Vigil Holy Mass at 11.30 p.m. Fr. Danko Perutina was the main celebrant and there were 136 priests concelebrating as well. The whole evening prayer programme was simultaneously translated in many world languages, and International Youth Choir and Orchestra accompanied the whole programme with their song and music. Thousands of these young people came to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Medjugorje, far from the usual, ordinary way of celebration practiced in the rest of the world. Church of St. James was too little for so many people, and programme was broadcasted through video walls in the Yellow Hall, in the green tent, while the White Dome and the area in front of the church were also full of people that could not fit any of these provided areas. Radio station “Mir” Medjugorje, as well as many internet portals broadcasted the whole programme from the church of St. James.

Pilgrims from Japan in Medjugorje

Many pilgrims are coming to Medjugorje in this time of preparation for Christmas – Advent. Maria Fujie Ito and Paulo Masanovi Yamasaki came to Medjugorje for the first time from Japan. They travelled for thirty hours from Japan to come to this place of prayer and reconciliation. Maria said that she heard about Medjugorje twenty years ago, but could not come earlier due to business obligations. She is grateful to everybody for wonderful hospitality towards her here, and added: “I believe in Our Lady’s messages, in her presence and everything that she has been saying to us. When I retire I will come again here. This pilgrimage is a great experience for me. I really enjoyed climbing the Apparition Hill and praying Rosary there, that was what my heart needed so much, and I am truly grateful for being here. I will bring more pilgrims from Japan. “Paulo heard about Medjugorje twenty years ago and then he read a book about Medjugorje. “The most important about Christianity is in Medjugorje. You can really feel that here, while in Japan unfortunately people have forgot about that”, said Paulo.
