The traditional annual meeting of scholars of “Fra Slavko Barbaric” Association was held in Medjugorje on Wednesday, December 29th. Meeting started at 1 p.m. with the Holy Mass celebrated by the President of the Association Fr. Miljenko Steko. Fr. Karlo Lovric spoke to the students after Holy Mass and said how one can recognise in this Association a man, a Franciscan and a priest, Fr. Slavko Barbaric, who had heart for the needs of the young people and decided to establish this Association so he could help to them. “I am not so sure that Fr. Slavko would have had such heart if he hadn’t been at the source of love and faith in Jesus Christ. He was growing for nearly 20 years in Our Lady’s school of prayer and serving. Now, there are other people to continue the work of late Fr. Slavko, and for you, dear students, I hope that this Association will teach you never to close the doors to the ones who are in need, who are deprived of food and clothes. You should all become members of Our Lady’s school of prayer!”
After that, Fr. Miljenko Steko greeted all of the students and invited them to come forward and sign their contracts about scholarships. This year Association is going to provide 150 supports and 61 scholarships to talented students. He invited them all to participate in 20th anniversary of this Association that will be celebrated in the year 2011, especially with their own creative work.
He had also thanked to all of the benefactors and members of the Association, who were helping to students in need throughout this year. At the very end, there was a party for all of the members who had chance to speak to awarded students.
