The parish Medjugorje and the pilgrims empathize with the victims of the serious earthquake that stroke Italy. In all the Masses in Medjugorje, special prayers are offered these days for this intention.

Holy Thursday - April 9 - Day of the institution of the Eucharist and of Priesthood. On that day, there is only one Mass - in the evening. In the morning, there is neither Mass nor Confessions. The Eucharist is the most precious of all that Jesus left us, therefore on that day everyone should assist Holy Mass.

Palm or Passion Sunday is an introduction into the Holy Week, which ends with the solemnity of the Resurrection. The Church remembers the triumphal entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem few days before the Jewish feast of Pesah. “Saint Cecily’s choir” from Jelsa, island Hvar, sung in Medjugorje on Friday, March 27, 2009. The evening Mass at 6 p.m. was presided by Fr. Stanko Jelčić, parish priest of Jelsa, and the choir under direction of Slavko Reljić sung during the Eucharistic celebration.

The visionary Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo had daily apparitions from June 24th 1981 to December 25th 1982. During the last daily apparition, Our Lady gave her the 10th secret, and told her that she would appear to her once a year, on the 18th of March. It has been this way through the years. Several thousand pilgrims gathered in prayer of the Rosary at the 'Blue Cross'. The apparition lasted from 13:52 to 13:58.

What do you think about the Medjugorje phenomenon?
“I think that it is a blessed place and a grace of God; who goes to Medjugorje returns transformed, changed, he reflects himself in that source of grace that is Christ. Christ is at the same time the tap and the source. If in Medjugorje, as it is obvious by now, many conversions happen, it surely means that there is the hand of God. I believe that we should look at Medjugorje with serenity and trust, appreciating all the good and holy things that happen in that place.”

The visionaries continue to speak, therefore, it is necessary to wait. But if the faithful are coming in such a great numbers, there must be a positive reason for it”.

The sixteenth International Meeting for Leaders of Peace Centres and Medjugorje Prayer and Charity groups is taking place in Medjugorje from the 1st to the 5th of March 2009. The theme of the gathering is: “Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening” (1 Sm 3, 9). Lecturers at the seminar are Fr. Petar Ljubičić, Fr. Miro Šego and Fr. Ljubo Kurtović. There are 166 participants from 14 countries.

On Wednesday, February 18, 2009, after several years, Medjugorje woke up once again covered with snow. The parishioners and rare pilgrims prefer to remain in their warm houses, and cars are also rare on the streets, because - in this climate - most of them do not have the winter equipment. Children enjoy the snow… The quiet period in Medjugorje seems to be even more peaceful under snow… (photo)

Blessed Aloysius Cardinal Stepinac (1898 - 1960) was the Archbishop of Zagreb from 1937 to 1960. In 1946, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison by a communist court. After five years of detention in Lepoglava prison, he was confined to his home parish of Krašić where he died on February 10, 1960. He was appointed a Cardinal in 1952 by Pope Pius XII. In 1998, Pope John Paul II declared him a martyr and beatified him. Cardinal Stepinac’ grave in the Cathedral of Zagreb has always been a place of pilgrimage and of prayer.
