Mons. Sebastian Thekethecheril from India participated in the International Seminar for Priests

Mons. Sebastian Thekethecheril, bishop of the diocese Vijayapuram (Kerala, India) was in Medjugorje from July 2 to 7, 2007, during the international retreat for priests. He also celebrated Holy Mass for the English-speaking pilgrims and gave a homily.

Fr. Rainer Herteis, Diocese Eichstätt (Germany)

Fr. Rainer Herteis, born in 1975, received his priestly ordination on May 6, 2006, in the Diocese Eichstätt (Germany). The story of his life and of his vocation are closely connected with Medjugorje. In June 2007, he was in Medjugorje. Lidija Paris spoke with him.

Medjugorje anniversary celebrated throughout the world

Throughout the world, friends of Medjugorje gathered in various Associations, Peace Centres and prayer groups, to celebrate the 26th anniversary of the apparitions of the Queen of Peace.

Celebration of the 26th Anniversary of Our Lady’s apparitions

“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit exults in God my Saviour”. With these words every evening after Holy Mass throughout the whole novena, the Medjugorje visionaries, the faithful and the pilgrims gave thanks for all the graces that God has given to Medjugorje and to the whole world during the 26 years of Our Lady’s apparitions. (photos)

Two Bishops in Medjugorje for the Anniversary

Two Bishops visited Medjugorje for the Anniversary of the apparitions: Mons. Emilio Ogñénovich, Archbishop Emeritus of Mercedes-Luján (Argentina) and Mons. Geevarghese Divannasios Ottathengil, Malankarese Bishop of Battery (Kerala, India).

Mons. Ogñénovich accompanied a group of pilgrims from Argentina, while Mons. Ottathengil accompanied the pilgrims from Switzerland.

This was the second visit to Medjugorje for both bishops.

REGULAR ANNUAL APPARITION TO THE VISIONARY IVANKA

 The visionary Ivanka Ivankovic-Elez had her regular annual apparition on June 25th 2007. According to the visionaries, Vicka, Marija and Ivan continue to have daily apparitions, and Mirjana, Ivanka and Jakov have an annual apparition.

16. Humac-Medjugorje Peace Walk

The Peace March from Humac to Medjugorje traditionally takes place on June 24th, the Feast of Saint John the Baptist. Again this year, thousands of pilgrims who were not discouraged by the strong sun followed the cross, praying all the while. This 14 kilometer-long march began at the front of the Franciscan monastery in Humac at about 6 am, and prayed and sang ceaselessly until it arrived in front of the parish church in Medjugorje at about 10 am. From Slovakia to Medjugorje on foot and empty hands

In May 2007, Robert Kučerak, a young priest from Slovakia (age 31, ordained 4 years ago, in charge of a parish for 2 years now) walked to Medjugorje. He decided to undertake the pilgrimage because he felt a need for solitary prayer that included both soul and body. Thus, he walked for 15 days altogether.

On bicycle from Italy to Medjugorje

A group of 29 friends from the S. Maria Assunta di Vigonovo Parish (Ve, Italy) undertook a cycling pilgrimage to Medjugorje from the 2nd to the 10th of June, 2007. Seven days of cycling were dedicated to various encounters with people, towns and local customs, while two days in Medjugorje were reserved for prayer, recollection and personal meditation. (See: http://www.pedaliamoperlavita.it)

Confirmation in St. James' parish Medjugorje

On Saturday the 9th of June, 2007, Mons. Ratko Peric, Bishop of Mostar, visited the Parish of Medjugorje in order to preside over the 11.00 am Holy Mass, during which he conferred the sacrament of Confirmation. This year, 73 young candidates received this sacrament. (photos)

Solemnity of Corpus Christi - Procession

On the Feast of Corpus Christi, Thursday the 7th of June, 2007, evening Mass was presided over by Fr. Svetozar Kraljevic. As in previous years, the procession with the Blessed Sacrament through the streets of Medjugorje took place immediately after Holy Mass. (photos)

Medjugorje in Hong Kong and Macao

In May 2007, a group of pilgrims came to Medjugorje from Hong Kong and Macao. The group was accompanied by a priest, and led by Michelle Yau Ivy (Hong Kong) and S. Claire-Marie (Macao). Lidija Paris spoke with them.

A Testimony: Mons. Boulos Emile Saadé, Maronite Bishop of the Batroun Diocese (Lebanon)

Mons. Boulos Emile Saadé, Maronite Bishop of the Batroun Diocese in the Lebanon visited Medjugorje on a private pilgrimage from the 8th to the 14th of May, 2007. He accompanied a group of pilgrims along with the Association “Friends of Mary Queen of Peace” from Beirut. Mons. Boulos Emile Saadé was ordained a priest in 1958, and consecrated bishop in 1986. He is in charge of the Batroun Diocese in the north of the Lebanon since 1999. This is what he said:
