Totus Tuus boys camp in Međugorje

A camp for boys of the ages from 9 to 14, organised by the prayer community, Totus Tuus, from Mostar, was held in Medjugorje from April 22-24, 2016 in Domus Pacis. There were 14 boys and 8 leaders who took part in this camp. The Totus Tuus representatives from Mostar said that the leaders this year were representatives from several countries, so this camp was also international.

Fr. Antonio Furtado from Brazil came to Međugorje on a pilgrimage

Fr. Antonio Furtado comes from the town of Fortaleza in the northeast of Brazil. He came to Medjugorje for the first time in 1996, as a seminarian.  In a programme on Radio “Mir” Medjugorje, he spoke about his life journey and his vocation. He entered a seminary as a very young boy and that is where he underwent a crisis.

The 5th International Pilgrimage for Persons with a Disability

09.-12. 06. 2016. – “In Mary’s School“

The 5th International Pilgrimage for Persons with a Disability will be held in Medjugorje from June 9 – 12, 2016. The programme will be held in the Hall of John Paul II, at the White Dome and in Mother’s Village. As part of the programme, those participants who are able to do so will climb Krizevac and there will be the Rosary on Podbrdo for most of the participants (members of the Cenacolo community will take up disabled persons, if necessary).

Students and teachers from the College of Health in Zagreb came to Medjugorje on a pilgrimage

Students and teachers from the College of Health in Zagreb, came to Medjugorje on a pilgrimage to the Queen of Peace. They said that a profound spirituality is extremely important in the formation of future health workers, therefore their religious teachers are very keen on organising a pilgrimage to Medjugorje each year.

Magnus MacFarlane Barrow: “Mary’s Meals is a fruit of Medjugorje and of the graces poured out here”

The presentation of Magnus MacFarlane - Barrow's book “The Shed That Fed a Million Children”, will take place in Medjugorje on Wednesday 13 April 2016 at 7pm in the Hall of John Paul II.

Fr. Stojan Damjanović: “There are great fruits of Medjugorje”

Fr. Stojan Damjanović is a member of the Franciscan Province of the Most Holy Redeemer based in Split. He lives on a small island, Visovac, where the Franciscans have their monastery of Our Lady of Angels and their novitiate. He is the parish curate and teacher of novices. He served in the missions in Africa.

Members of the prayer community “Bozja Pobjeda” (God’s Victory) in Medjugorje

Members of the prayer community “Božja Pobjeda” from Zagreb, arrived in Medjugorje on pilgrimage at the beginning of April.  They came to participate in the second meeting of “The Charismatic Prayer Communities”, in coordination with “The Renewal in the Holy Spirit of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, which was held from 1st to 3rd  April 1 2016, in Medjugorje.

Easter Octave in Medjugorje

The first week of the Easter period is called the Octave of Easter and the whole liturgy of the church is imbued with the Paschal Mystery. There were many gatherings of pilgrims during this particular week in Medjugorje.  Pilgrims from all over the world took part in the Eucharistic celebrations in different languages, as well as in the evening prayer programme.

Holy Triduum – Easter

The centre of the liturgical year is Christ's passion, death and resurrection.  The liturgy of the Church calls it the Paschal/ Easter Mystery.  The parishioners of Medjugorje celebrated this Holy Triduum in communion with many local and foreign pilgrims. (photos)

The Way of the Cross by parishioners and pilgrims on Cross Mountain

Since early morning on Good Friday pilgrims climbed Cross Mountain in large or small groups and prayed the Way of the Cross. As is the case every year the Way of the Cross for Croatian pilgrims and the parishioners began at 11am.  (photos)

Palm Sunday in Medjugorje

Palm Sunday or the Sunday of the Passion of Our Lord traditionally is an introduction to Holy Week, as a preparation for Easter, the greatest Christian feast. As in previous years, the liturgy of Palm Sunday began in the ruins of the old parish church. The procession began after the Gospel reading about the entrance of Our Lord into Jerusalem was read and the blessing of palm and olive branches followed. (photos)

Holy Week and Easter in Medjugorje

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (March 21- March 23, 2016): Holy Mass is at 7.30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. Confessions are before the morning Mass and from 4.30 p.m. This Wednesday, after the evening Mass, there will be the last encounter for parishioners, to meditate and eat bread and socialise afterwards, which takes place in the hall of John Paul II. The hosts are employees of the parish office and Information Centre.
