Over one thousand of people from all of the country took part in Medjugorje’s Ist Youth Festival in Poland. The Festival took place between 14th and 16th of November 2014 in Piotrków Trybunalski.
TRWAM television emitted an extensive reportage of the event. However, the catholic media were not the only ones who followed the Festival, the secular media were also present. All of the Festival’s events were transmitted via the Internet. The transmission was seen by thousands of people worldwide. The meeting was translated into English and Croatian language.
The Festival was organized by the “Divine Mercy” foundation which also runs Polish Information Centre “MIR” Medjugorje. Pr. Stanko Ćosić, the Franciscan from St. Jacob’s parish in Medjugorje, was the main preacher and animator during the meeting. Singing and dancing was animated by Medjugorje’s choir together with musicians from the “Nazaret” band and with the Franciscan youth’s dancing group the “Frama”. The conference was preached by the well-know Polish youth’s priest – Piotr Pawlukiewicz. The ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Poland was also present in the Festival.
The presence of mood of the annual Youth Festival in Medjugorje was emphasized by those participants who experienced that feeling. The Festival’s mood was present during Masses, adorations, conferences and worship prayers.
The Festival’s choir sang during the assembly in Jasna Góra Monastery on Sunday evening. The next day, together with the congregation of Virgin Mary’s Sisters who were present in the Festival with the group of 50 people, the choir sang during prayer at the hour of charity in the Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy in Cracow.
According to the priests, the Medjugorje’s Ist Youth Festival in Poland signed up lastingly in the history of Polish church and opened a new space for youth’s evangelism, facing many heart’s desire.
The “Divine Mercy’ foundation is going to continue an initiative of the Festival. In 2015 the foundation intends to organize the IInd Youth Festival in Poland. The works in setting the most suitable place and time for the next year Festival are already in progress. The organizers expect a rapid growth in the number of participants.
The Medjugorje’s Ist Workshop of Dance and Music will be the first step to prepare for the Festival. The workshop is taking place between 17th and 18th of January 2015. During the workshop, the youth will learn singing and dancing to the songs which were played during the Medjugorje’s Ist Youth Festival in Poland. One of the workshop’s aim is to create Polish section of the Medjugorje’s choir which will serve dancing and singing during Youth Festivals, evangelism meetings and prayer’s evenings taking place in Poland and Europe, being organized by the “Divine Mercy” foundation.
The musicians from the Ist Youth Festival in Poland and Damir Bunoza, the Medjugorje’s choir conductor, will lead the workshop.
