A novena to the Queen of Peace is taking place for the occasion of the 44th anniversary of Our Lady's apparitions in Medjugorje. Every day at 4 p.m., the rosary is said on Apparition Hill, parishioners and priests pray the rosary every evening on the White Dome of the Church of St. James, where Holy Mass is celebrated at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, June 24th, the Peace Walk will take place. As every year, the Walk will depart at 6 a.m. in front of the Shrine of St. Anthony in Humac. Arrival at the parish church is scheduled for around 10 a.m.
''Therefore, we invite all of you parishioners and pilgrims, especially the younger ones, to join in the prayer for PEACE. It is a beautiful custom for our parishioners to offer refreshments to the participants of the Peace Walk when they pass by the houses - from Podmiletina along the main road to the parish church,'' the Medjugorje parish office invited.
The world continues to yearn for peace, and Our Lady in Medjugorje has been calling for prayer for peace for almost half a century.
Tuesday is the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, also known as the Vigil of the Anniversary. Holy Masses in the parish church are at 8, 11 and 7 pm. After the evening Holy Mass, there will be a one-hour adoration with music and prayers, which will continue in silence until 6 o'clock in the morning.
Wednesday, June 25th is the 44th anniversary of Our Lady's apparitions. Holy Masses in the Croatian language are in the parish church at 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 a.m. and the central solemn Holy Mass is at 7 p.m. As on every 25th of the month, immediately after the Holy Mass there will be adoration of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar and it will continue in silence until 7 a.m.
