The 1st International Pro-Life Seminar in Medjugorje was finished on Sunday, June 19, with the Holy Mass at 11 am celebrated by Fr. Ante Vuckovic. The seminar started on June 16 and gathered more than 130 participants from 16 countries with the theme: „The Infant in the Womb” (Lk 1, 41), „Be merciful as your Heavenly Father is” (Lk 6, 36).

On Saturday, June 25, 2016, Medjugorje will celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Our Lady’s Apparitions. Holy Masses in Croatian language will take place at 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 am and the central Holy Mass at 7 pm. At 10 pm, the monthly whole-night Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament would start at 10 pm and continue in silence from 11 pm to 7 am the following day.

On Friday, June 24, 2016, we celebrate the Feast of St. John the Baptist, but it is also the Eve of the 35th Anniversary of Our Lady’s apparitions. As it is already tradition, Peace Walk would start on that day at 6 am outside monastery and shrine of St. Anthony in Humac and the Walk is expected outside St. James church around 10 am on that day.

The parish choir „Queen of Peace“ has been active in Medjugorje parish for the last 26 years. Singers work hard throughout the whole year when they practice new compositions and those adopted before. Many feasts throughout the year bring always more intensive preparations.

The 5th International Pilgrimage for Persons with Disabilities was completed with Holy Mass held at 11 am, at the White Dome of St. James’ Church on Sunday, June 12, 2016. This Pilgrimage was held with the theme “In Mary’s School” and around 1800 participants gathered. Prior to this Holy Mass, all participants spoke about their impressions and shared their testimonies. Đurđica Mađar from Vinkovci came to the 5th Pilgrimage for Persons with Disabilities and she is representative of Association Bubamara. „I am a mother of 15 years old boy Marko, who has cerebral paralysis. This is the fourth time for us to be here. Each time I need to organise trip here, I feel as if I cannot do it anymore.

Klaudija and Zoran Šumić, a young married couple from Žepče, came to Medjugorje on a pilgrimage only four days after they got married. They met during the Neocatechumenal encounters in Žepče, and told us how they want to build Christian family opened for the life. Zoran said they came here to thank the Queen of Peace:

At the occasion of Mother’s Day, five members family Antunovic made their pilgrimage to Medjugorje and they came from Ticino region in Switzerland, while they are originally from Odzak in Bosnia. It is interesting that children and a husband wanted to surprise their mom and wife by giving her this pilgrimage for Mother’s Day.

After having completed religious preparation, 65 children (36 boys and 29 girls), received the sacrament of the First Holy Communion in Medjugorje parish on Sunday, May 29 at 10 am solemn Holy Mass. The main celebrant was Fr. Vjekoslav Milićević, and celebration was more beautiful thanks to the sinigng of children's choir from Medjugorje parish «Doves of Peace».

On Saturday, May 28, 79 young people (44 boys and 35 girls) received the sacrament of Holy Confirmation at the Holy Mass at 10 am in the parish church of St. James. Mons. Ratio Peric, Bishop of Mostar Duvno Diocese, ministered this sacrament to them and the whole service was more beautiful thanks to the singing of parish choir, conducted by Sr. Irena Azinovic. Confession for their parents and godparents was day before, on Friday, May 27. Fr. Hrvoje Miletic, parish vicar, prepared these boys and girls for this occasion.

Summer timetable of the evening prayer programme in Medjugorje will be effective from Wednesday, June 1 until September 1. Rosary will be at 6 pm, Holy Mass at 7 pm, and the schedule afterwards will be as usual, depending on each day. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10-11 pm, and on Thursdays at 8 pm, after the evening Holy Mass.
