The Superior General of the Franciscan Order visits Medjugorje

date: 12.10.2007.

Fr. Jose Rodriguez Carballo, Superior General of the Franciscan Order, visited the Herzegovinian Franciscan Province of the Assumption of Mary from the 7th to the 10th of October, 2007.

On the 8th of October he visited his brother Franciscans in Medjugorje. Fr. Petar Vlašić, parish priest of Medjugorje, greeted him on behalf of the friars. Fr. General remained in friendly conversation with the brothers, and he thanked them for all their endeavours on behalf of the Croatian speaking faithful, as well as for all those who come to Medjugorje from all parts of the world seeking spiritual refreshment, peace and conversion. He encouraged the brothers to proceed tirelessly along the path of good works, and he recommended both personal and communal spiritual preparation for their encounters with the faithful, while making sure to include some quiet time for rest, which is also a very important factor in this place of prayer, which hosts such vast numbers of the faithful from around the whole world.

The General subsequently lunched with the friars, and the parish priest chose the occasion to present him with a statue of the Risen Savior, one of the symbols of Medjugorje. On behalf of “Mothers Village”, Fr. Svetozar Kraljević presented him with a painting also.
