The seventh anniversary of the death of Fr. Slavko Babaric

date: 24.11.2007.

On Saturday the 24th of November 2007, parishioners and pilgrims in Medjugorje united in prayer to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the death of Fr. Slavko Barbarić.

Immediately after leading the last Way of the Cross of his life, Fr. Slavko died on Friday the 24th of November 2,000. Seven years later, the faithful gathered at the foot of Cross Mountain at 2.00pm to remember in prayer the priest who had dedicated his whole life to the promotion of Our Lady’s messages and the spirituality that emanates from them. Fr. Danko Perutina led the Way of the Cross, and also on that day, other language groups prayed the way of the cross on Cross Mountain. The German speaking pilgrims were particularly numerous.

Fr. Tomislav Pervan was the main celebrant for the Evening Mass for Fr. Slavko. In his homily, Fr. Tomislav recalled the spontaneity of the events of Medjugorje, which took the Church and the world by surprise, as did the expansion of the prayer movement which emanated from them.

The 9.00pm Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament was led by Fr. Svetozar Kraljević.
