President of Republic of Croatia came to Medjugorje on a pilgrimage

date: 14.08.2016.

The President of Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, came to Medjugorje on a private visit when she also visited other towns in Herzegovina. During her three-days stay in Medjugorje, she visited places of prayer, church of St. James and Hill of apparitions of the Queen of Peace. She also met with Franciscans who are serving in this parish and she found time to give brief interview to the radio station Mir, Medjugorje. The President Grabar Kitarović thanked Herzegovina for warm welcome and this is what she said about her impressions of Medjugorje:

„All of this leaves profound impression on me. I’ve been coming to Medjugorje since 80’s, when I came with my mom for the first time, and ever since that time, I was able to feel deep spirituality of this place and the presence of what we believe in our faith. Sometimes we all have need to come again here and to be recharged at the spiritual well that keeps us positive and optimistic, gives us faith in ourselves, in our people. I certainly need that to be able to obtain this huge responsibility as the president of the country. That burden is big, but also there is joy of living and serving to our homeland, especially when we can do that with such love, openness and constant interaction with people.”
