Pilgrimage from Daruvar: „We feel we need to come to our Mother and that is why we have been coming for the last twenty-one years”

date: 15.05.2017.

Association of Women „Katarina Zrinski” from Daruvar organises pilgrimages to Medjugorje since 1996. They come from two parishes in Daruvar (town in Croatia) – parish of the Most Holy Trinity and of St. Anthony of Padua.

„The first year we came here, we knew straight away that was not going to be our last trip. We continued to come back here each year, twice a year – in May and in September, until 2006. Sadly, during our trip in 2006, my husband died, so we began to come once a year since 2007. Sometimes we come in April, sometimes in June, but most of the times we come in May. Last year we celebrated our 20th anniversary and this is our 21st pilgrimage here. Usually, about 40 of us come here. We leave daruvar in the late evening and arrive here around 6 am. We climb later Cross Mountain and pray the Way of the Cross there. When we come down, we go for confessions and Holy mass and in the afternoon we go to Apparition Hill for prayer of rosary. Later on that same evening, we return to Daruvar. We feel we need to come to our Mother and that is why we have been coming for the last twenty-one years. We all feel something, each one of us in his own way, but one needs to come here alone to understand this phenomenon. Many, just like me, after visiting Medjugorje gain peace in their soul, something that cannot be described”, said Andrijana Slivar, one of the pilgrims from Daruvar. (photos)
