Palm Sunday – Sunday of the Passion of our Lord

date: 20.03.2018.

As traditionally in the Diociese of Mostar - Duvno for many years now, the whole week from the 5th Sunday of the Lent, until the Palm Sunday is offered for the prayer against curses and blaspheming in our people. All parishioners and pilgrims are invited to offer their prayer intentions, especially the Way of the Cross on Friday and to offer those to the Lord as the atonement for all the pain He receives through slandering and blasphemous language.

The Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday and that week is the peak of preparation for the Easter celebration. The liturgy of Palm Sunday will begin in Medjugorje parish on the grounds of the old parish church at 10.30 a.m. and the procession will move from there to the parish church of St. James where the Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Holy Masses in Croatian language will be at 7 and 8 a.m. and at 6 p.m. The blessing of the olive and palm branches will be at every Holy Mass. Rosary will be at 2 p.m. on Apparition Hill, as every Sunday. This year, the feast of the Annunciation falls on Palm Sunday and therefore it would be moved to Monday, April 9, after the Easter Octave ends.
