Holy Scripture made more popular through the football tournament held in Medjugorje

The Croatian Biblical Association, in cooperation with Albanian, Serbian and Macedonian Biblical Associations, organised the football tournament in Medjugorje from February 20-22, 2015, all with the purpose of making the Holy Scripture more popular. The frame of the whole programme was prayer and encounter with the Holy Bible. Prior to the football games, participants were reading the Holy Scripture, and Fr. Ivan Dugandzic, professor of Biblical studies gave lectures about the importance of regular reading and studying of the Holy Bible.

Six teams took part at this tournament and they were from Albania, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The initial goal of the encounter was socialising, spending time getting to know each other and desire to read the Holy Bible and to live according to the principles of the Word of God. The participants at the end received symbolic awards that made all of them really happy.

The President of the Croatian Biblical Association, Damir Lipovsek, said that the goal of making the Holy Scripture more popular through this encounter was achieved. The football games increased the joy of this encounter even more. “Indeed, this encounter was the encounter of joy that leads towards the true treasure as the Biblical Associations connected not just various nations, but various religions as well”, said Fr. Mario Cosic, the Executive President of the Club of Boarding School of the Catholic School Centre “St.Joseph” in Sarajevo.
