Christmas Concert given by two children choirs

date: 20.12.2005.

The “Little Doves of Peace” from Medjugorje under direction of Sr. Slavica Kozul, and the “Little Dubrovnik Singers” under the direction of Maestro Djelo Jusic gave their traditional Christmas Concert in Medjugorje Parish Church on Sunday, December 19, 2005 at 3.00pm. The group “Luka” from Ploce was the special guest at this concert. Maestro Jusic and Sr. Slavica Kozul are collaborating for many years now. This Christmas Concert takes place every year in Medjugorje as well as in Dubrovnik.

According to Djelo Jusic, “God has brought us together. We heard about the “Little Doves of Peace” and they heard about us. Sister Slavica came to us through God’s Providence. I responded, and we are here, and we shall be here again in the future!”

Sister Slavica Kožul said: “Our collaboration is ongoing for six years now. When I first approached Maestro Jusic, I asked him to write something for our children’s choir. He composes a lot for children: for the children’s choirs “Golden Harp” festival, and for other occasions. We prepared this Christmas Concert together, and we also made a CD together. Every year, during the week before Christmas, there is a concert first in Medjugorje and then in Dubrovnik. For the 25th anniversary, we are preparing a new programme, including some new compositions, and I hope that we shall make a new CD. In the choir, there are children aged 6 to 15. We are not all born with equal talents, but all are progressing. Some have special talents. The children are well trained, so that during the concert you feel only spontaneity and joy. There are about 100 children in the choir, the youngest of which is six. The parents help a lot, and without them, many things could not have been done.”
