Christmas and Christmas Feasts and celebrations in Medjugorje

On Sunday, December 23, 2012, there will be Christmas concert in the Hall of St. Joseph in Mother’s Village at 8 p.m. after the evening prayer programme in the church of St. James. The concert is organised by the parish office Medjugorje, Mother’s Village and Local Communities of Bijakovici and Medjugorje.
Last early Holy Mass at 6 a.m. will take place tomorrow, on Christmas Eve. The evening prayer programme will start with the Rosary at 5 p.m., Holy Mass at 6 p.m. All priests participate in that Holy Mass that is why confessions on that day are only from 4 to 5.30 p.m. After the evening Holy Mass there will be live Nativity scene performance in front of the church of St. James. The vigil begins at 10 p.m. and will last until midnight when the Midnight Holy Mass begins.
On Tuesday, December 25, we celebrate Christmas, the Feast of birth of Jesus. Holy Masses are at 7,8,11 a.m. and at 6 p.m. and in branch churches in Miletina, Vionica and Surmanci at 10 a.m. After the morning Holy Mass all parishioners are invited to the parish office for little celebration.
On Wednesday, December 26, we celebrate the Feast of St. Stephen, the first martyr. Holy Masses are only in the parish church at 7, 8, 11 a.m. and at 6 p.m. Local bishop, Ratko Peric is going to ordain two candidates of Herzegovina Franciscan Province as deacons, during the Holy Mass at 6 p.m. in the Franciscan Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Mostar. Candidates Fr. Josip Serdjo Cavar and Fr. Mario Ostojic are both from Medjugorje parish.
On Thursday, December 27, we celebrate the Feast of St. John the apostle. Holy Masses are only in the parish church in Medjugorje at 7.30, 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The blessing of families and their homes begins on that day.
