This year too, Mir Information Center Međugorje continues the great prayer initiative on the occasion of Christmas under the name "Your name in the embrace of the Queen of Peace". This is the third year in a row that the faithful write their names, prayers, intentions, thanksgiving... which will be presented to the Queen of Peace on Apparition Hill on Christmas Day itself. Last year, more than 160,000 names, prayers and thanksgiving expressions were registered, and the initiator of this prayer initiative and also our photojournalist, Mateo Ivanković, said that this prayer initiative was created in 2014, when he created a prayer initiative on Facebook in his own name and it had a great response.
"Over time, that initiative somehow fell into oblivion until 2020, when there was general madness and closures, so a few days before Christmas, during the prayer, the idea came to me to repeat it again when the situation was like that. We wanted to instill hope that change is possible, that peace is possible," said Mateo, adding that last year there was an even higher turnout than in 2020, and there were more than 30,000 applications, and in those applications there were several names of relatives and family members, and then more than 160,000 names, prayers, and thanksgivings were collected, which Mateo presented to the Queen of Peace on Apparition Hill, and thus this prayer initiative became a tradition to be organized every year during the Advent.
"This year we also started on the first Sunday of Advent, that is, November 27, and in these few days there are already about 1,200 applications, which means about 6,000 names, given that everyone writes 4-5 names of their loved ones on average. People's experiences are such that they are very grateful and delighted, they send us messages of thanks, as well as messages that their prayers were answered, and even in our immediate family there was a great answer of prayers regarding the offspring. So, thank God, people are grateful," Mateo said, noting that believers can register in nine languages.
This action ends on December 23, and Mateo will then take the prayer list to the Apparition Hill in the embrace of the Queen of Peace on Christmas Day, after the main Holy Mass, and say the rosary for all those names, prayers, thanksgivings and intentions.
