On Thursday, June 11, the 4th International Pilgrimage for Persons with Disabilities began in Medjugorje. The main organiser is Association „Encounter“ from Citluk in cooperation with parish office Medjugorje and Mother's Village. The President of this Association Jasminka Vasilj in her presentation of the pilgrimage which will last until June 14, said: „Around 1500 participants from the various countries have registered for this pilgrimage, but we can add to this number around 200 participants from our county and from West Herzegovina County who will be actively participating in everyday programme and return homes afterwards. All pilgrims were accommodated two days ago thanks to good will of our parishioners“. Taking about the previous pilgrimages Jasminka said: „The number of pilgrims is increasing each year and all of them live Medjugorje having beautiful experiences. We had pilgrims from Latvia, Ukraine and Poland for the first time last year. Big groups are coming and people sometimes travel for two days in coaches. Even though they are persons with disabilities, all of them are drawn to this place where parishioners take them with the open hearts and they are returning here over and over again“. Parishioners of Međugorje parish will give free accommodation and food to all of these pilgrims. (Program)
