„Follow me“ – In Our Lady’s School – was the theme of the International Spiritual Retreat for Married Couples, held in Medjugorje from November 6-9, 2019.
During those four days, all participants took part in the evening prayer programme, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, prayed on Apparition Hill and Cross Mountain, confessions. The leader of the spiritual retreat was Medjugorje parish priest, Fr. Marinko Sakota.
This retreat was completed on Saturday with Holy Mass of Thanksgiving celebrated by the Apostolic Visitor for Medjugorje, Archbishop Henryk Hoser. In his homily, he emphasised that calling of each of us is to become holy, just as the One who created us desired.
He placed St. Joseph as the model to all men, and the Blessed Virgin Mary to all women.
-If God created us as men, let us be men! Let us be genuine, responsible men, those who know their duties, who are good in fatherhood. Joseph was a true man, he followed Mary, observed and guided her, took care of her as she was preparing to bring Jesus to the world, Son of God.
The same is with women, let them be true women, those who can develop not just biological, but the spiritual motherhood too. They say a woman is the heart of each home. Home without a mother loses its charm. Be just like the Blessed Virgin Mary was, be kind and nice, be beautiful as she was. Someone asked Mary, How come you are so beautiful? Incredible beauty of hers…She responded, I am beautiful because I love! Let us be good and beautiful and may God bless you all, said Msgr. Hoser in his homily.
At this year’s jubilee spiritual retreat there were more than 400 participants from 18 countries. On Monday, the first International Spiritual Retreat for the Musicians will begin and the lecturer shall be Fr. Ante Vučković. (PHOTO)
