On Thursday, November 24, 2016, Medjugorje commemorated the 16th anniversary of Fr. Slavko’s death. Fr. Ljubo Kurtovic was the main celebrant of the evening Holy Mass, with parish priest Fr. Marinko Sakota, Fr. Dragan Ruzic, Director of Mother’s Village and 16 more priests concelebrating.
Fr. Ljubo said in his homily, among other things: „Today we remember the 16th anniversary of late Fr. Slavko’s death. After having prayed the Way of the Cross on Cross Mountain with parishioners, Lord invited him in the afternoon hours, in the age of 54. The work of Fr. Slavko is permanently visible all around is in Medjugorje. Many followed him, as they felt he spoke the truth, that he was touching their hearts and helped them to discover the true purpose of life. Fr. Slavko discovered that by following Gospa as a Mother, so he was able in that way to show the way to all around him. Fr. Slavko gave himself for others, he was giving his time, heart and his life by following the logics of the Gospel”.
Celebration of Holy Mass was more solemn thanks to the singing of the parish choir of the Queen of Peace, conducted by Sr. Irena Azinovic. Fr. Slavko’s memory was also present on Cross Mountain on that day, as many faithful, led by Fr. Marinko Sakota, prayed the Way of the Cross there. (photos)
