Female vocal group «Mir» from Medjugorje, won the first prize of the audience at the 17th International contest of vocal groups held in Perast in Montenegro last weekend.
Members of this vocal group said that it was the great honour for them to perform among 10 reputable vocal groups who perform for more than 10 years and this first prize is a great miracle for them.
„We went to Perast for the first time and we did not have great expectations at all. Our goal was to perform with these other vocal groups and to show that Medjugorje has a culture of vocal singing and knows about the good music. We exist only for two years, but Perast recognised our efforts and hard work. Besides this vocal group, I led male vocal group „Concordia“ from Medjugorje and they were the youngest contestors and were very successful. This prize is a great motivation to us and we plan to work more. Humbly and modestly, we will perform on July 7 in Omis, at the International contest of Dalmatia. We thank dear God and our Gospa, as this is a great miracle for us!“ said prof. Monija Jarak Mikulić , leader of this female vocal group.
This vocal group was created in Medjugorje in September 2016, at the initiative of Fr. Marinko Sakota, the parish priest and has 10 members. (photos)
