FC Dinamo on a training in Medjugorje

The leading team of the Croatian football, the FC Dinamo from Zagreb, spent seven days in Medjugorje on training. Under the guidance of Branko Ivanković, the chief of the team of experts, 25 players came to Herzegovina: Turina, Lončarić, Kelava, Vranić, Šarlija, Čale, Ćorluka, Drpić, Jertec, Tadić, Pokrivač, Mamić, Da Silva, Chago, Sammir, Modrić, Etto, Vugrinec, Ćutura, Vukojević, Carlos, Schildenfeld, Janjetović, Pandev and Antunović. They were exercising twice a day in the sport and recreation center “Circle International”. Every day, about 300 supporters were coming to Medjugorje to observe them.

            “On this holy place, I promise today to come walking from Zagreb to Medjugorje during summer, in order to entrust our FC Dinamo to Our Lady of Medjugorje”, declared Zdravko Mamić, the executive vice-president of Dinamo, during the encounter of the leaders of the club and the footballers with Dr. Fr. Ivan Sesar, the parish priest of Medjugorje, in the presbytery. He also promised to bring next year Dinamo to Medjugorje for at least two weeks of training, and to play during this time four friendly matches in Herzegovina.

            The parish priest of Medjugorje spoke to the guests about the Medjugorje events. Fr. Sesar gave to Zdravko Mamić a statue of Our Lady Queen of Peace, and two books about Medjugorje, and wooden rosaries to the footballers. Mamić responded with a Dinamo shirt signed by all the players, and a book about Dinamo. Led by Mamić and Ivanković, the footballers climbed then the Apparition Hill.
