Christmas wishes of Fr. Marinko Sakota, Medjugorje parish priest

date: 24.12.2020.

Fr. Marinko Šakota, Medjugorje parish priest, sent Christmas wishes to all pilgrims and faithful, and here we bring his whole message:

The entire universe speaks about God’s love that is being given abundantly. Everything is God’s free gift to men, starting from billions of galaxies, planets, stars, sun that shines, rain that quenches the earth, the invisible air, birds in the sky and a little flower...

Only in thanksgiving, man can discover free God’s love. Once he discovers it, there is astonishment within him, his eyes are opened, and the breath stops before the wonder of God’s creation.

This, particularly, refers to Christmas when God gave, not something from Himself, but His whole Self to us, people.

Christmas, this exalted mystery, is opportunity for us to remain silent, like shepherds and wisemen from the east were, before the mystery of God’s self-giving to men. While we gaze at the manger in our family home or in the parish community and as we sing Christmas hymns, may there be gratitude born in our hearts along with wonder and astonishment for this great mystery – that great God, out of love towards us people, became a little child

May all of you, parishioners of Medjugorje parish, all pilgrims from all over the world and all people of good will, have blessed and merry Christmas!

Fr. Marinko Šakota,
Medjugorje parish priest
