„Sebet nas i naše dice“ play held in Medjugorje

date: 29.01.2018.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Fr. Diak Buntic saving hungry children from Herzegovina by taking them to Slavonija, fraternity of YouFra and OFS from Siroki Brijeg prepared a play about Fr. Didak’s life and all those events back in 1917. This play was written by prof. Mirela Lovric.

It was given on January 28, 2018 in the Hall of John Paul II in Medjugorje. Fr. Didak spent most of his life in Siroki Brijeg and people from there still remember him and his great ideas and deeds. During the time of the World War II, one young and bold Franciscan goes around towns, visits politicians and even the Emperor seeking for the help for poor Herzegovinian people, who are starved because of the bad and dry weather, giving all they have for someone else’s king and someone else’s land. The intention of the organisers was to honour this great man. Their efforts were recognised by the parish priest Fr. Marinko Sakota, who thanked them after the performance. He said that research of Fr. Didak’s life is the best man to get to know him and it is his desire that more of these play develop in the future. (photos)
