The traditional “Students’ day”, an encounter between students and members of the “Fra Slavko Barbarić” Association, Međugorje, was organized this year in the Mothers’ Village in Bijakovići.
Over 150 students took part in it. The encounter began with a welcome extended by the president of the Association, Dr. Fr. Ivan Sesar, the Franciscan Provincial in Herzegovina, who informed the students about the activities of the Association which supports them. He invited them to be attentive to the needs of those who are disadvantaged. He emphasized that, on completion of their studies, they also would have a moral obligation to support the activities of the Association, thereby enabling it to help future generations.
After the lecture, Dr. Fr. Ivan Sesar presided over a thanksgiving Mass, which was concelebrated by Dr. Fr. Miljenko Šteko, who also gave the homily.
After Mass, the students who are beneficiaries of the stipends for this year, signed their contracts, and the encounter concluded with some friendly socializing.
During the current school year, the Association is providing financial support to 66 individuals, while supporting 81 students in total.
